Optional Questions
Optional Personnel fields may be established to enable an organization to gather and organize specific information about their staff. The fields are user-defined in order to meet specific needs. Some examples of Personnel fields may include: tracking the renewal date for a particular type of staff certification, recording certain EOC information, or tracking the county where an employee lives.
Code: Enter a numeric code up to 9-digits.
For Iowa clients reporting retirement (IPERS) electronically, the two-digit Occupation codes are as follows. You will only need to set up those that apply to your organization. Once setup here, they will also need to be entered into the employee files.

04 State of Iowa Legislators
05 State of Iowa Correctional Officers
06 Police Officers (full and part time, cities only)
07 State of Iowa Airport Firefighters

13 Firefighters (includes volunteer firefighters)
15 State of Iowa Fire Prevention Inspectors

Description: Enter a description for the Personnel field.
Type: Enter an A, N, D, $ , % or click on the combo box arrow to select the type of designation to be applied to the personnel field. The options are:

This defines an alpha/numeric field
This defines a numeric only field This defines date format field This defines a numeric field that will be interpreted as a dollar amount This defines a numeric field that will be interpreted as a percentage |
Mandatory: If your organization's policies are such that a response is required from all staff for a specific optional question, select True when creating an optional question and it will automatically be added to all new employees from that point on.
Note: When you make a new optional question mandatory it will ask you if you wish to add this mandatory question to all active employees
Note: If you have not entered a response to a mandatory question for ANY employee, only then will you be able to delete the optional question from this set up form.
Active: Enter True if this Optional Question may be used. If it is no longer to be used, enter False.
After you have set up your Optional Question titles here, you will then need to go to Employee/Employee File/Additional Information tab to enter the information pertaining to the individual employees.
